Answers:
You can use a previous version on a new computer as long as you have never used that product key, if you have it gets a little iffy. But I just did this a few weeks ago, my laptop got fried so I used the sealed reinstall disk to get the full Microsoft Word program.
But if you have used that product key before, then you should definitely consider using OpenOffice, its great, its free, and its completely compatible with Microsoft Word and other word Processors.Q&A For PC

I just did the same thing on my computer and it worked fine.Q&A For PC

As long as you have the installation CD you should be able to put it on your new computer. We are usually allowed to install on two PCs that are in our name.

If you are unsuccessful, you might consider downloading the totally free and Microsoft compatible Open Office suite.
